TABBIES 2007 Award Winner
Atlantic Business Magazine Awarded 3rd Place in International Competition
Atlantic Business Magazine is proud to announce that Editor Dawn Chafe has received a Bronze award in the Best Editorial category of the 2007 Tabbie international business press awards.
The award-winning entry (which appeared in the November 2006 issue of Atlantic Business Magazine), entitled "Please Don’t Read This!", laments the need for a dedicated women in business issue. To quote Chafe’s editorial: "The necessity of giving women special treatment as a specific business subject should be every bit as repugnant and politically incorrect as the thought of celebrating the ‘surprising’ achievements of a particular ethnic group...I wish the female presence was so intrinsically ingrained and so equitably distributed throughout the corporate community that the raison d’ętre for this annual salute to women in business no longer existed, but such is not the case."
The judges agreed, noting that the piece "makes an important point about women in business and the problems they still face—despite the progress they've made."
The Tabbies, an international b2b magazine competition encompassing 19 categories, is open to English language business-to-business publications around the world that are published at least quarterly. For the second year in a row, more than 700 entries were received.
