2008 Top 50 CEO Awards

What is a Top 50 CEO? From the inception of this awards program a decade ago, and continuing through each of the succeeding years since, it is a question we have often been asked. By virtue of the selection criteria that were laid down in the very beginning, we know that Atlantic Business Magazine's Top 50 CEOs have to be exceptional business leaders who are dedicated to growing their businesses, their industries and the broader regional economy. We also know that they are proud community supporters and active volunteers.

What we did not know but have since learned is that there is definitely something revolutionary about our most accomplished corporate leaders. In addition to possessing the incredible work ethic and considerable smarts that are the hallmark of most senior executives, Atlantic Business Magazine's Top 50 CEO award winners are also a little bit lawless (in the most positive sense of the word). They consistently question the status quo. They rarely follow convention. And they are always searching for more efficient and effective ways of getting the job done. They may wear conservative suits and walk the boardroom talk, but they are maverick thinkers all the same. And they are unapologetically making their mark across the region and around the world.

To our latest batch of rebels with justifiable cause, we salute you. Viva la revolution!
