CURRENT ISSUE VOLUME 20 NO. 3 MAY/JUNE 2009
Leaders of Tomorrow
People and companies on the verge of greatness
By Eleanor Beaton, Alec Bruce and Denise Flint
Think of this as the anti-cover story, the thematic opposite of our annual salute to the past year's headline acts. These are the tales of a little known group of ambitious over-achievers. A group whose dedication and perseverance have combined with fortuitous circumstance to place them at the very cusp of big league success. While no one can say for certain whether or not they'll be able to make that leap, we at Atlantic Business Magazine believe it is both important and worthwhile - at this very pivotal moment - to celebrate their entrepreneurial energy.
Where did we find our rising stars? Primarily, through the careful research and inquiry of our editorial team (kudos to Alec Bruce and Eleanor Beaton) and by polling our electronic newsletter subscribers (thank you - your prolific and thoughtful recommendations were invaluable). I am also indebted to Ann Kenney, senior communications officer with ACOA Fredericton, for providing us with the background information and photographs used in "The Atlantic Art of Success". Held in October, 2007, this ACOA-hosted event highlighted the achievements and successes of ACOA clients throughout the region, and featured a gallery of photo exhibits showcasing 20 accomplished Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurs. A number of those subjects are included here.
